comes to the Dennos Museum Center
The Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology brings The Traveling CANVAS and CalculArt to the Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College starting January 20, 2008. CalculArt investigates the union between math and art--at what point is a mathematical object a work of art rather than a visualization?
CalculArt originated at the Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005. The exhibit includes the Traveling CANVAS, an immersive 3d environment, and works displayed in the CANVAS as well as prints, sculpture, and more. More information on the artworks in the exhibit can be found at the works page.
